ERP Strategy for Developing Information System Cross-Functional Integration

Redouane EL Amrani

This paper discusses the necessary factors for bringing about cross-functionality following the ERP implementation. It shows that cross-functionality cannot be reduced to the technical integration provided by ERP. Cross-functionality is defined as the perception by the organization’s participants of the integrated and coupled nature of the different business processes working to produce a product and/or a service. It results from a dynamic process where several technical and organizational factors come into play. This research is an attempt to put into perspective the factors related to the ERP implementation strategy along with other more specific factors which may impact cross-functionality in the organization, and to explain the emergence of a more cross-functional vision to ERP users.
