Performance of solar powered HPLED lamp for indoor lighting-A Case Study

This paper presents the hardware implementation of a stand alone photovoltaic lighting system used for indoor lighting that uses High Power Light Emitting Diode (HPLED) as a light source. HPLED based lighting system is better in optical quality

compared to conventional lighting systems and are less expensive when the payback period and life cycle costs are considered. The case study in an engineering institute deals with the proposal to replace the conventional lighting system with solar powered HPLED lamps, which is considered to be absolute green technology. A laboratory prototype of the proposed system was implemented for lighting an office room of the institute.
